While I absolutely loved owning and teaching at all 3 Carolina Barre locations, I am learning to see the huge benefits of teaching in my small home studio.
Transitioning from teaching in a large studio to hosting small group classes in a my home studio has been an interesting and sometimes difficult journey. Saying that I sometimes feel “less than” without my studios is a fair statement. Those studios, my teachers and community fueled my soul. After closing the studios, several times I just thought I’d just completely close that chapter. Be done with teaching all together. I certainly didn’t want to teach someone else’s modalities or ideologies. I didn’t want to memorize any choreography for a franchise- that’s not TEACHING to me. I struggled because I know that I am made for this. I’m made to connect and create experiences for women to grow and connect with others while strengthening themselves in mind body and spirit. That being said, I knew couldn’t quit. And, while I’m not owning 3 studios, impacting 100s of women a week, I am still bringing value to those that I am able to serve. THIS transformation has an abundance of benefits.
The shift not only enhances my teaching experience but also enriches the learning environment for all of you, my guests.
Firstly, my small home studio allows for more intimate classes. The reduced class size can foster an even tighter-knit community than I had before. And, anyone that has been to CBC knows that we had the most amazing community. It was like the CHEERS of barre studios- where everyone knows each other by name. I’m hoping that I can not only keep offering classes to the public (most people come by referral) but also cater to pre-existing friend groups- offering one-off or a consistent class for them to take together that not only serves the individual but also strengthens the friend group as well. So, if you have a small group of friends that you want to have this experience with- let’s set something up- we are not limited to what is on the schedule.
I will continue to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where each session feels personal and engaging. Where women get to know other women and feel supported in a new community.
Moreover, with fewer students, I can offer a more personalized experience. Tailoring sessions to meet individual needs and skill levels becomes much more feasible. This customization helps students progress at their own pace, addressing specific areas for improvement while celebrating unique achievements.
Finally, such an environment enables the provision of a more full-service experience. With the freedom to explore varied teaching methodologies and utilize diverse resources, students receive comprehensive instruction that might be challenging to deliver in a larger setting. And, you bring nothing- I take care of everything…. from set up to clean up. You just do the work in between. 💪🏽
Overall, the move to a small home studio brings transformative benefits, offering an intimate, personalized, and full-service teaching and learning experience. It's a rewarding transition for both my guests and me- fostering growth and nurturing passion in a truly special setting.
I am embracing this change and making the most of it…. While I know that my space is not as convenient as it once was to former guests- I want you to know that I’ll make every single class that you get to as special as possible. Your time and effort do not go unappreciated. I hope that you can embrace this change with me- and come as often as you can…. I’ll be delivering new experiences and waiting for you with open arms and endless possibilities.
With Love From my Core,
Amity ❤️
