Happy Last Monday of January!
As we approach the end of January, many of us might find our initial excitement for health and wellness goals starting to fade. It's tempting to let the momentum of "New Year, New You" slide into the background of our busy lives. But- what if we reformatted our thoughts to… January is just the beginning!
First, take a moment to reflect on the reasons you set your health goals. Was it to feel stronger, more energized, improve your mental well-being, live longer or simply to enjoy life more? Whatever your reasons, they're still as valid now as they were at the start of the year- maybe even MORE valid.
Also- remember, your health and wellness journey IS NOT all-or-nothing. Every small victory should be recognized. Did you drink enough water today? How did you move your body? Did you take time to BREATHE? Celebrate these achievements! They're stepping stones to your larger goals.
Staying adaptable is crucial. Life is unpredictable, and that's okay. Maybe your schedule got busier, or the cold weather made it hard to stay motivated. The key is flexibility. Adapt your plan to fit your current lifestyle and environment. Even small changes, like a quick home workout, taking a walk in a new city when you are out of town, taking a nap when you need it, or taking time to meal prep when you know your day is week will be hectic. These tweaks can make a huge difference.
Remind yourself of the joy that comes with taking care of your body and mind. Find activities you love, maybe biking, skiing, playing pickleball, yoga, or walking- I have been wanting to buy some roller skates lately! Simply move your body in a way that is enjoyable to you. Try meditating, breath work and reflective journaling for an improved mental state. Get excited about trying new healthy foods. Challenge yourself to add a variety of color to your plate. When you're passionate about the process, the results will follow naturally.
Most importantly, find a support system. Everything is easier and more enjoyable when you have a partner or a small group to cheer you on.
Whether it's your sister, your husband, your best friend or an awesome online community, surround yourself with people who encourage you in your journey. Sharing struggles and successes can provide the motivation you need to keep going.
As we wave goodbye to January, let's keep our spirits high and our goals in sight. Together, we can turn this year's goals into a lifetime of wellness- and we get there… one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race. 🐢
Stay strong and inspired-
With love from my core,
Amity ❤️
