Finding Joy this Holiday Season

Happy week of Thanksgiving! November has been quite the whirlwind, hasn't it? Between the stress of this election season—no matter which side you found yourself on—and the heartache of losing my sweet pup, it's been a month with highs and lows of emotion. But as we wrap up this chapter and look forward to brighter days, I find myself yearning to keep things light, joyful, and filled with the warmth of the holidays.

Traditionally, in my family, the holiday season doesn't officially kick off until after Thanksgiving. Growing up, we wouldn't  hang a single Christmas ornament or play festive carols until we celebrated Thanksgiving.

Then- it was ON!

My sister always pulled an all nighter and would go out as soon as stores opened to do Black Friday shopping.  She was much better at it than I was- but I went a few times….. coffee, and shopping with your best gal- who wouldn’t be down for that?!?!

But times are changing.  It seems like our holiday calendar has shifted. Stores and the internet are eager to rush us into the Christmas season earlier each year, possibly in hopes of boosting sales and extending the shopping season.  I mean- Costco had Christmas trees out on LABOR DAY this year!!  “Black Friday” isn’t a day anymore- it’s actually weeks before and after Thanksgiving.  It's fascinating and a little sad to observe, and I can't help but to think this change is reshaping and even ending some of our holiday traditions.

To be honest, though, I'm not totally complaining. I'd secretly listen to Christmas music all year round if it were socially acceptable—how about you? There's something magical about those melodies that lift the spirit and make even the toughest days feel a bit brighter.

As we step into the holiday season this week, I'm choosing to embrace whatever brings joy and comfort. Let's cherish the traditions we love, old and new, and create a festive atmosphere that warms our hearts.

Here's to finding light amidst anything heavy, and to celebrating the joy this season brings!  Hug your family, friends and your pets tightly- find gratitude for what you have and those that love you.

Please know that I am grateful to each and every one of you.  🥰

With love and gratitude from my core,

Amity ❤️
